16 Teams fighting for the Cup

The membership of sixteen teams for the worldchampionship 2011 was not always sure. Women soccer is getting more and more popular. In 2007 Joseph Blatter, the general manager of the FIFA, suggested a higher number of 20 or 24 teams for the worldchampionship. But a lot of people disagree. It was not sure, that it could be possible to get 24 nearly equal teams for the world championship. The high score of 11:0 from Germany against Argentina shows, that still 16 teams can have various performances. So the FIFA declared for the women also in 2011 a worldchampionship with 16 competitors.
