Chollima - thousand-mile horse
The 2011 World Cup is the fourth consecutive World Cup chase for the North Koreans. Their best performance was witnessed at the 2007 World Cup where they reached the quarter finals where Kim Kwang Min was their star player. They even qualified for the 2008 Olympics; however, they could not get past the first round.
The North Koreans have some significant performances at the Asian Championships. The team achieved the honorable second place in 1993 and 1997. The Asian fans have a lot of expectations from the Asian teams. The Chollimas (thousand-mile horse) have played the host team four times and have lost on all the occasions, including the 2007 quarter finals.
