Colombia
The Colombian team has a long football history. It goes all the way back to 1966 where the two South American teams (Colombia played Venezuela) played each other and the Colombian team won the match 2-1. Despite of having such long history, the Colombian team has qualified for the World Cup and the 2012 Olympics for the very first time.
Ranked 32 by FIFA, the team finished Runners up behind Brazil in the second South American Championships for Women under Coach Ricardo Rozo.
The team is in group ‘C’ along with North Korea, Sweden and United States. In a preparation match against Denmark, the Colombian team won in penalty shoot out. The team will start their World Cup campaign on the 28th June against Sweden in Leverkusen.
