Nzalang Nacional
Like the Colombian team, the Nzalang Nacional (nick name for Equatorial Guinea) is playing at the World Cup for the first time. The coach Marcelo Frigerio is not a big name in the football world as the team has not played much outside Africa. In 2006 the team made remarkable improvement. In their second attempt at the Africa Cup in 2008 they were the proud winners defeating Nigeria and in 2010 they lost to Nigeria to take the second spot in the Africa Cup.
Anonma Genoveva is one prominent player who plays in the German Club Jena. In 2008 she was the top scorer and the best player of the tournament at the African Nations Cup.
Being in the group ‘D’ along with Brazil, Norway and Australia can get a little too much for Nzalang Nacional to handle. They would be playing their first match against the two times European Champion and Olympics Gold medalist Norway on the 29th June in Augsburg.
