El Tricolor

The El Tricolor (The Tricolor) is making their second appearance at the World Cups. The first one was in 1999 where the team could not get past the group stage matches. In the 2004 Olympics, the team qualified for the quarter finals, however, they lost to Brazil who was the deserving Silver medal winner 0-5.

The team has a much more impressive track record at the North American Championships. They have been Runners up twice (1998 and 2010) and third place winners three times (1994, 2002 and 2006). They have earned their place in the 2011 World Cup after finishing second at these North American championships in 2010. The two North American teams (United States and Canada) have overshadowed the Mexican team.

In the 2011 World Cup the El Tricolors would start their battle for the World Cup on 27th June against England in Augsburg. Japan and New Zealand too are in the same group ‘B’.
