The Olympic Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium. Besides football matches the stadium has hosted live performances from the stars of the likes of Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Phil Collins, Guns N' Roses, U2, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney.
The initial stadium was built in for the 1916 Summer Olympic which did not happen because of the world war.
The stadium has massive footballing tradition and was reconstructed with 1936 Summer Olympic in mind. During the 1974 FIFA World Cup, the stadium was used for 3 matches. Six matches including the finals of the 2006 were played in this stadium. 2006 FIFA World Cup final saw the two footballing giants France and Italy clash for the cup. 2006 FIFA World Cup also witnessed Zinedine Zidane's Disreputable headbutt.
The cost of construction of the stadium was 242 million and has the capacity to house 74228 fans. The stadium is scheduled to host matches from 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
